| 29/4/2008 Kings Heath CC Kings Heath v Harborne Harborne won the toss and chose to bat on a cold evening at Kings Heath Cricket Club. The first ball of the day saw a stunning diving catch by Hassan Farooq fielding at point, off Mo Akhtar. This was followed up with the batsman being clean bowled two balls later. Harborne struck back in the next over with Danny Evans scoring three consecutive fours. Christian Cairns also batted well scoring 11 runs with two boundaries and took Harborne to 232 at the half way stage of their innings. Callum Bird picked up a wicket in the tenth over thanks to an excellent catch by Mo Akhtar. Chad Atkinson then devastated the Harborne lower order with four wickets, including two excellent stumpings by Louis Langham-Walsh. This left Kings Heath requiring 233 runs to win. Harborne bowled and fielded brilliantly and Kings Heath got off to a slow start with just 6 runs off the first 4 over with Daniel Dowell-Lee bowling a maiden. The first wicket fell in the sixth over with Andrew Elliot picking up a caught and bowled. Chad Atkinson and Mo Akhtar batted well together each scoring boundaries but as the pressure built the Kings Heath batsmen started taking risks. Harborne with excellent fielding managed to get two run outs, with Jay Reddy scoring a direct hit. With the final pair entering and just 5 to win off 4 overs it seemed as though Kings Heath would win. However, Max Dixon got a wicket with his second ball caught behind and Kings Heath now needed 10 to win. A good four through midwicket by Callum Bird saw 3 to win off the final over. Danny Dowell-Lee conceded just one run off his first five balls. The final ball was nudged to point and as the Kings Heath batsmen desperately tried to scramble a single that would tie the game Elliott Parke achieved a direct hit to run out the batsman and give Harborne a 6 run win. |

Four Oaks took to the crease and unfortunately for them where pegged back early on by some very good bowling from Walmley. After 8 over’s the score was 223. Joshua Hall then took the ball and bowled 2 fantastic over’s finishing with figures of 2overs, 1maiden, 2wkts for 2 runs, the two wickets came back to back followed by the next ball with a run out, but unfortunately for Joshua this does not count as a hat trick. After this middle spell Four Oak Sts needed to push for the runs they needed but the Walmley bowling continued to punish them. Sahir Mubarik bowled 4 over’s for 14runs taking 5 wickets. Four Oak Saints finished on 208 giving Walmley a win by 58 runs. |
