Girls Development of Excellence Programme

The female side of the game demonstrates a “mirror-image” approach to that of the boys in that each age group receives a similar Winter Coaching Programme leading to match play in the Summer. Once again ECB organise competitive cricket for Under 13 15 17 and the Senior teams whilst at under 11 and 19 the Board organises a series of fixtures to supplement the programme for aspiring players at the two ends of the spectrum .

In order to enter the system a series of trials take place in November and then training groups are formulated based on age rather than ability – these sessions generally take place on Sundays and get a good take up. This year 14 of the best young females will be embarking on an International tournament in Cape Town with 5 other Counties or Provinces . The Senior Squad which although is “amateur” allows the County players to progress in to Regional Cricket and on to England teams

At the end of the year the Cricket Board hosts a Dinner where upwards of 250 youngsters attend with their parents to receive the END OF SEASON AWARDS voted by Managers and their peers alike.
